Lottery wins, horse racing, and other sorts of betting, for example, are taxed at a fixed rate of 30% plus appropriate cess. In this scenario, the taxpayer&#8217;s income tax bracket has no bearing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dividend income from shares and\/or mutual funds, on the other hand, is taxable according to the individual&#8217;s income tax slab rate for the applicable fiscal year. We should know that, under current tax legislation, gifts with a fair market value of less than Rs. 50,000 are free from tax.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If a gift does not meet any of the exempt criteria, the net taxable amount is added to the taxpayer&#8217;s annual income under the heading <\/span><b>income from other sources<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. It will be taxed at the appropriate <\/span><b>income tax slab rate<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"Real\"><b>Income Tax on Real Estate Sales<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Any property transaction, whether moveable or immovable, will be subject to taxation in addition to stamp duty. Land and property are both included in a property transaction. If an immovable property is given without consideration, the full stamp duty will be levied.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If the property is obtained after consideration and the stamp duty exceeds Rs. 50,000 or 10%, the stamp duty will now be payable as per the buyer&#8217;s income. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TDS<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on property applies to these transactions as well.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Moveable property, such as gold, securities, shares, archaeological collections, sculptures, paintings, photos, bullion, artwork, and so on, falls under the <\/span><b>tax slab<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> when received without consideration or at a reduced price.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Also, read: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/legalwindow.in\/what-is-income-and-different-sources-of-income\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>What is Income and Different Sources of Income?<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"Tax\"><b>Tax Exemptions for Income from Other Sources<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><b>Other sources of income<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> provide for <\/span><b>deductions when filing income taxes<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. As a taxpayer, you can deduct a variety of expenses. The following are the deductions permitted for <\/span><b>income from other sources<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Commission or payment for realizing interest or dividends on securities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Repairs, depreciation on plant, fixtures, and machinery, and insurance premiums can all be deducted from the income generated.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The standard deduction for family pension income.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Interest in more remuneration or compensation. It includes various types of income not covered under other specific heads such as, monetary gifts, certain dividends, winnings from lottery or gambling, and rental income.
